  4. This archive contains the limited version of Mathomatic, the algebraic
  5. manipulator.  A tutorial program is included which contains some interesting
  6. information and a demonstration section is included at the end.

  8. The limited version of Mathomatic has been incorporated into the tutorial
  9. program to eliminate duplicated code.  This reduced the size of this archive by
  10. 50%.  The limited version is now more powerful than any previous limited
  11. versions and is now fully functional.

  13. Version 5 of Mathomatic features double precision floating point constants!

  15. This archive may be freely distributed as long as none of the files inside are
  16. modified or missing.

  20.   ADV.TXT         Advertisement and description of Mathomatic.
  21.   AMTUTOR.EXE     The Mathomatic tutorial, demo, and limited program.
  22.   FILE_ID.DIZ     Short description of Mathomatic.
  23.   GRAPH.EXE       The Mathomatic Graph program (Requires EGA or VGA).
  24.   ORDER.FRM       The Mathomatic order form.

  27. To run the tutorial, type in "amtutor" at the DOS prompt.  If you have a color
  28. computer and you have the "ANSI.SYS" driver loaded, you can see how Mathomatic
  29. works in color by typing "amtutor -c" at the DOS prompt.  In color mode,
  30. Mathomatic outputs ANSI escape sequences to make each level of parentheses a
  31. different color.  To execute the limited version of Mathomatic, select it from
  32. the tutorial main menu.

  34. In color mode, Mathomatic changes the default text color on your screen to
  35. green.  The procedure for running ANSI programs without changing the default
  36. text color is contained in the Mathomatic manual, which is only available to
  37. registered users.

  39. You must have at least 640K of memory in your computer to run Mathomatic.
  40. Mathomatic runs on all IBM-PC and IBM-PC/AT compatibles with the MS-DOS
  41. operating system.  The Mathomatic "graph" command requires EGA or VGA and
  42. MS-DOS version 3.0 or higher.  A math coprocessor is recommended and always
  43. used if available.

  45. The number of equation spaces and the equation size are limited in this limited
  46. version of Mathomatic.

  48. Mathomatic is written in Microsoft C V5.1, is self-testing, and strictly
  49. follows the rules of algebra.  Mathomatic is powerful enough for users to check
  50. their answers/solutions, making it the most reliable math program available!

  54. Registered users get the full sized version of Mathomatic with hardcopy manual
  55. and prime number tools.  The full sized version has more equation spaces and
  56. allows equations three times larger than the limited version allows.  And it
  57. can be executed directly from the DOS command line.

  60. please do the following:

  62.   1) Print the file "ORDER.FRM".  At the DOS prompt, type: PRINT ORDER.FRM
  63.   2) Fill it out.
  64.   3) Make out a check or money order payable to "George Gesslein II".
  65.      It must be in U.S. dollars and drawn on a U.S. bank.
